Frequently Asked Question

How do I know if a marine contractor is licensed? 2021-04-05T13:30:03+00:00

It is important to make sure any contractor working on your property is licensed.  We have our General Contracting license and are happy to answer any questions about our marine construction services.  We want you to feel comfortable and confident when you choose to partner with us.  You can also call the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation at 866-532-1440 to verify if a marine contractor is licensed.

What is the purpose of a vinyl seawall? 2021-04-05T13:30:59+00:00

A vinyl corrugated seawall keeps your shoreline in place. It is made up of interlocking panels which reduce the chance of waterfront erosion. It has become a popular seawall material in the marine construction industry due to its durability and simpler installation techniques.

Is a permit required for a boat dock construction? If yes, who will take care of the marine project permit?2021-04-05T13:31:49+00:00

Generally, waterfront property owners are required to get a permit before the dock construction, although some docks may be exempt from permitting requirements due to their dimension and placement. For more information, you can refer to the Florida Waterfront website.  You can always give us a call here at DC Marine Construction to discuss how we can help guide you through the dock permit process.

How do I know when it’s time for a seawall repair vs. a seawall replacement? 2021-04-05T13:32:28+00:00

If your seawall shows rust stains, large gaps, cracks in the panels, or seawall caps, or if it is already crooked or leaning in/out, a seawall repair is necessary at minimum. But the amount of damage or aging will determine if you need a seawall replacement instead, so having a licensed marine contractor come out for an estimate is your best bet.  Our waterfront marine construction experts will know if your seawall can be repaired or if it’s time to invest in a new seawall replacement.

When can I expect my boat dock installation to be completed? 2021-04-05T13:33:39+00:00

After securing a construction permit, the average boat dock installation can vary in and around Melbourne, FL. Several factors may affect the construction time, including the dock’s design, materials, location, weather, manufacturer timelines, and more.  We can help narrow down a time frame for your boat dock installation once we complete a consultation.
